1. Miles is pointing at everything now! He is getting really good at letting you know what he wants.
2. Miles now does the sign for up and nurse. We are working on learning a few more.
3. Miles has now switched over to 2 naps a day instead of 3. It has been a bit of a tough transition, but we are making it work.
4. Miles LOVES to read and if you tell him to bring you a book, he does! He loves to sit in your lap and have you point out all the pictures.. he doesn't really want you to read the words, just point to stuff you see and name it.
5. Carl is doing SO well in his away rotation. Everyone keeps telling him that he is doing so well and we are so excited to possibly be moving closer to some family.
6. Miles HATES getting his diaper changed... at this moment my sister is changing him and he is screaming/crying so much. I think it is the fact that he doesn't get to run around, so he doesn't like to be pinned to a spot for awhile.
7. I am going to be the matron of honor at one of my best friends wedding tomorrow.. I am so excited. I got my toes done and get to have my makeup done. It is going to be so fun.
8. Bailey dyed my hair last night and it looks great but is a bit dark.
9. I love having Bailey visit... she is more helpful then anyone I know and is so much fun. It is like being around a younger me, so we finish each other's sentences and get each other's jokes. It is so fun.
10. Miles hit his lip on my leg yesterday and now his lip is a bit swollen and he has a mark on it. I feel so bad that he hurt himself on me.

Friday Update
1. Wow.. well we are still visiting family and it is HOT here... like swim every day in the 100's hot here.
2. Miles has started learning new things again.. he now knows how to open doors that have an up and down handle and he understands how to move stuff out of his way that he doesn't like (like a chair hiding an outlet that he wants) AND he has started pointing at stuff that he wants.
3. Miles has been playing with all of his cousins and having so much fun.
4. Carl had an interview here for a possible move and he did SO well. I really hope we get to move here.
5. Miles has started eating more and more different things. He had broccoli for the first time 2 days ago and he loved it!
6. His 7th tooth has finally broken through. It still isn't really grown in, but at least it has broken the gums and he is acting more and more like himself (unlike the crazy, unhappy boy he was before).
7. I made a fun frame this week. You use dry erase markers to write things that you love each other for each day. I figure it is a nice way for Carl and I to get a quick I love you in each day.
8. Miles is getting so good at walking! He can almost run already and is going everywhere!
9. Carl has been so busy this week.. He has been working from 6 am to 7 pm everyday... with no days off. It kind of stinks, but last night his parents watched Miles for us and we got to go out and get frozen yogurt! YUM! It was so nice to spend a few minutes together alone to talk and catch up.
10. Did I say I hope we get to move here? It would be so nice to move by some family so Miles can see cousins and we can all hang out more. We all get along so well that it would be great for us to always have people to hang out with.

Look what I made this week... it's a fun way for Carl and I to express love for each other each day.

Notice how a bunch of pics are blurry.... that's why I haven't put many up, most of them are blurry because Miles never quits moving!

Friday Update
1. Miles took a step on Tuesday. He was standing at the coffee table, let go, stood there for a second, and then stepped toward me! He only made it one step and fell, and hasn't tried it since. I think this totally counts as his first step, but Carl says he isn't so sure... Miles did manage to pick up his foot and move it forward, so does it count?
2. Miles is a little spitter. He has learned how to blow on his tongue to make a spitting sound and he does it all the time. He does this more than making talking noises.
3. Allergies are horrible this year. I am so stuffy and itchy and sneezy (is it just me or did you think those sound like dwarf names too?).
4. Miles really hasn't grown for the last few months. He is still wearing the same clothes and is only about a pound more than he was at new years. I think crawling is helping him to gain muscle and lose fat though... his face seems to look thinner than it did and I feel like he looks more grown up than before.
He weighs 24.2 lbs and is still 28.75 in tall this means he is in the 90 th percentile for weight for age and a little over 75 percentile for length for age.
5. Miles has so many bruises.. I know it's from crawling but I feel bad. He gets them on his head from bonking his head on the coffee table, but he also now has them on his legs from crawling over our baby gate in the kitchen (it has a little lip that he crawls over).
6. Miles is going through his 8 month bad sleep time. It is totally normal for babies. He is just so busy all day learning new things, so when we go to bed it is hard for him to fall asleep. It is also hard for him to stay asleep. When he starts coming out of a sleep cycle, into a lighter sleep, he wakes himself up to play. When he wakes up he rolls over and starts to crawl even before he is all the way awake. It is crazy and makes for a bunch of nursing at night so he can go back to sleep.
7. Carl stayed home on Wednesday because he caught a cold from his clinic. We really tried to keep Miles away from him so we'll see if he ends up sick.
8. Miles and I are going to fly to see my dad and family for Easter. My step mom was nice enough to buy us a plane ticket to visit for a week! It is going to be so fun because my sister Shelbie is also going to be visiting with my sweet niece! I am a bit nervous about going on a plane with Miles by myself, but it for sure beats driving for 10+ hours!
9. Carl, Miles, and I went to the park the other day and we let Miles put his feel in the sand for the first time. He wasn't so sure of it and just kept squishing his toes around in it.

10. Miles loves playing with the doggie door. He crawls over to the back door and likes to push the door open. I am just waiting for the time when he realizes he can push stuff outside and then learns he can fit through the door himself (when that happens, the dog door will get taken out for awhile).

Friday Update
1.Carl is loving family medicine. he only has to go 5 half days, but has to go to school the other days so he is still gone most of the weekdays.
2. Miles is doing well, but nothing has really changed this week.
3. I'm thinking about visiting my dad and family soon because flights are so cheap but I'm nervous about flying alone witha baby for the first time... Anyone have a few pointers?
4. None of our family have seen Miles crawling yet... Hint, hint family... Come visit us!
5. Carl got Miles a ball yesterday and he is trying to teach Miles how to roll the ball back and forth. It is so cute.
6. We are trying to work on getting Miles sleeping longer at night, so we are trying to feed him more during the day so he doesn't need to wake up as much.
I guess this is it for this week... Like I said, nothing new is really going on

Friday Update
1. I trimmed Miles' hair for the first time this week. He had a few really long hairs and his hair was covering his ears, so I gave him a trim. Now I can make his hair be a mohawk again!
2. Miles has started saying ma. It is his official first word!! He says it when he is upset and wants something. I am almost positive he knows it means me.
3. Miles is getting to be such a mover. He crawls around fast (especially if you have the laptop!) and he is standing up all the time. The other night Carl made the remark that he feels jipped because we didn't get to have a baby for very long, he is already almost a toddler now. He just grew up so fast.
4. I took Miles to the park and let him swing. He didn't like me putting him in a weird thing, but he loved swinging... that is what the video showed. After being there for a few minutes, a man that was playing tennis stopped, looked at us, and said, "best years of life right there... enjoy it". It was sweet.
5. Miles went in his jumpy for the last time... I put him in it and he had fun. He likes jumping. I think he is just getting too big, our living room is too small, and he doesn't like to be in it for too long because he would rather crawl so I had Carl put it away. It actually made me sad to see it go, but I took a few pictures and am very glad we had the jumpy when Miles was little.
6. Carl is starting a rotation that is within walking distance of our home on Monday. I am so excited that he won't be taking 30-45 min each day going to and from work. It means more at home time!
7. Miles loves to play with the blinds. He likes to eat the metal cord (don't worry... he is ALWAYS supervised while he plays with it). It is funny to watch him crawl over to the back door, pat the door, lick the door, and then play with the blinds and cords.
8. Miles is so smart. We have a baby gate blocking the way to the kitchen and it has a door that swings open. When the door is open it has a little lip on it. Miles would crawl over and couldn't figure out how to crawl over the little lip but after showing him once, he now does it on his own.
9. Miles gets SO excited when Carl gets home. He smiles so big, starts crawling toward the garage, and cries until Carl picks him up. It is really cute to see.
10. Miles has started to pull his own hair. He mostly does it while he nurses to sleep. I am a bit worried that he is going to become one of those people who pulls out his own hair, but Carl says he isn't strong enough and it is just a phase. I hope he is right!

Friday Update
1. Miles and I spent all week with my friend Lindsey and her family. It was so much fun!
2. Miles LOVES men. He likes the way they play and would cry whenever my friend's husband would leave the room.
3. Miles has gotten so much better at crawling. He is going faster and faster, but still not so quick I can't catch up.
4. Miles is still stroking his hair. He mostly does it when he is tired, but it is really cute to see.
5. Carl says that Miles has a different cry face now and when I asked him what he meant, he said that Miles must have control over a facial muscle that he didn't before because he cries differently.
6. In the morning, Miles stretches his whole body out and I swear, I can see him actually getting bigger and bigger.
7. Carl is finally finished with internal medicine. We are so ready for him to start an easier rotation and this means that he has the whole weekend off!
8. It was so cool to see Miles playing with my friend's kids. They are 8 and 2 and it was really fun to see how he interacted with bigger kids.
9. Miles is a jealous baby. I was playing with my friend's little 2 year old boy and Miles started crying and crawled over to me. I was kind of wrestling with the little 2 year old, and Miles comes over and starts pulling on me wanting my attention. I didn't realize how jealous he really was until that moment.
10. We cleaned up our living room and got rid of a few more things, so our house is looking great!
Here are some pics from our trip to visit friends!
These were taken by a 8 year old:

Friday Update
1. Miles has started raptor screaming again. It stinks.
2. Carl only has one more week of Internal Medicine and then he will be in Family med where he will only work 3 days a week instead of 6.
4. Miles has gotten really good at crawling. He now crawls into his play room without me.. I'll just look down and he's in the other room standing on his play table.
5. Miles does not like strangers. A nice lady at Walmart was talking to him and telling him how cute he was. She touched his cheek and he poked out his bottom lip and cried so hard I had to take him out of the cart and hold him to calm him down.
6. Miles has found out that he has hair! When he is tired, he likes to grab his hair and feel it. It is so cute!
7. Miles has started to get more daring and sometimes while he is standing, he will let go of the table and stand by himself for a second before he falls. It is crazy how advanced he is!
8. Our first Valentine's day went really well, although we celebrated it a day late. Miles got a cute shirt that says daddy rocks, I got a new pj shirt for when it gets warmer, and Carl got a nice romantic bath alone for an hour with candles and a glass of wine.
9. We have been putting Miles to sleep earlier at night. I lay him down and nurse him around 7:30 and he sleeps alone until we go to be around 9. He tends to wake up a lot during that time though. I think he gets uncomfortable and realizes I am not there and wakes up. I then have to go and nurse him back to sleep. He really only does this once or twice before he goes into deep sleep.
10. I have been trying to watch what I eat to help lose some weight and I am proud to say that I am 20 lbs lighter than I was when I got pregnant... that means that since Having Miles, I have lost a total of 45 lbs. I am fitting in jeans I haven't been able to wear in 2 years. It is nice.. I would still like too lose another 10-15 lbs, but I am just glad to be where I am!

Friday Update
1. Miles has started playing with his tongue again. It is so cute. He especially likes to do this when he is wrapped up after he is done nursing and before he falls asleep.
2. He has also started sucking in air when he gets excited.
both of these are in the following video-
4. Both sides of my family are thinking of going to Idaho for a part of the summer. That means that I think Miles will spend his first birthday in Idaho meeting many members of his family that he hasn't met yet.
5. Miles has started crawling even farther than before. He can now crawl all around the living room and even has crawled to the kitchen. He really only likes to do it when there is some kind of motivation (like the Jezzie or me going to the kitchen) but it is so cute to see him do it!
6. I just finished a book called
2. He has also started sucking in air when he gets excited.
both of these are in the following video-
p.s. sorry about the BIG booger in his nose, I didn't notice until after the video :)
3. Miles is a BIG guy.. we had him measured and he is now 23 lbs 10 oz and is 28.75 in tall. He is in the 99th percentile for both.4. 6. I just finished a book called
My So-Called Life as a Proverbs 31 Wife: A One-Year Experiment...and Its Surprising Results
it was really fun to read and gave me a lot to think about.
7. Carl is so close to being finished with internal medicine... only 2 more weeks and then he will be in family medicine (or family vacation is what the other students call it- because it is so easy.. yea!)
8. We have started putting Miles to bed earlier. He isn't taking a late nap and is going to bed an hour earlier... he is still getting the same amount of sleep, but now Carl and I get some much needed alone time.
9. ++++++++++++++---------------------------------------------------------------------------- that was -miles... he loves the laptop and pushing buttons is his favorite thing to do- besides playing with daddy's belt or book.
10. Miles has stared eating his hands again... this makes me wonder if his top teeth are going to come in soon because he only did it before when he was teething his bottom teeth and then stopped once they came through.

Friday Update
AAA... I can't believe it is already Friday again.. it seems to come so quickly! We are almost to 7 months. Only a few days to go... I can't believe I almost have a 7 month old... where is time going? Thank goodness I am a stay at home mom and get to be with Miles all the time :)
Well, here's what's new:
1. Miles crawled last night.. Carl was on the computer and Miles forward crawled to it all by himself. I guess he just needs a great motivator to really go forward.
2. He crawled 2 knees forward today at our play group.
3. Miles has a mysterious rash that has been there for about a month and feels dry. It is sometimes red or sometimes fleshy colored. I think it might be eczema. I will ask the nurse about it on Monday when he goes in for his shots.
4. Carl is now at the V.A. hospital. This means that he gets to come home sooner each night... he even got off at 1 today!
5. We found a new toy store we love. They have the greatest toys and were rated the best toys in the city for the last 5 years. I'm excited to get him some toys for his birthday in a few months.
6. I have only been to 2 play groups, but I really enjoy it and Miles and I love hanging out with the other moms. He naps on the way, plays for 2 hours, and naps on the way home! It is great!
7. Miles is 30 weeks old. I remember when I was 30 weeks pregnant, barely believing that I would have a baby in 10 weeks. It feels like just yesterday but also feels like forever ago.
8. Miles has officially developed stranger danger. He isn't a fan of others, unless he is with Carl or me. If we are around, he is curious about others and still likes to be shy around them, but if we are out of the room he cries.
9. We put in a new dresser for a t.v. stand, but we still need to paint it. It is cream now, but I think I want to paint it a light blue.
10. I love that Miles doesn't mind being in his pack-n-play. It is nice that there is a place for him to go and I don't have to worry about his safety. He has just started to grab the edge of the playpin and pull himself up to standing and it is crazy to see him stand up all by himself, looking over the edge at me, biting the sides.

Friday Update
1. My baby is getting so big. He looks more and more like the man he will be each day.
2. He has started using a sippy cup.. now, he's not effective with it yet but he's starting to get the hang of it and likes to chew it and get the surprise of apple flavored water in his mouth.
3. Miles sat up all by himself after being put on his back.. this is a GIANT milestone for him because now when he falls down, he can get back up all on his own!
4. He ate peas for the first time and didn't gag! It was the first new food he liked and didn't gag with the first bite.
5. I gave him a mum mum and he LOVED it! He ate the whole thing and once again, didn't gag when little pieces were in his mouth. He just ate it and bit off more.
6. My procedure went really well! I am only a little sore but still so glad my mom is here to help.
7. Carl gets this whole weekend off! His first weekend in 5 weeks! YES!
8. Miles is officially in 12 month clothes for everything. I can't believe this is the last of the real baby sizes he will ever wear.. it will make me sad to have to box them up eventually.
9. We let Miles play with Jello the other night... he liked squishing it but really didn't like to eat it (which is good because I didn't want him to eat it anyway).
10. Miles crawled forward last night... it was only two legs forward, but he's going to be moving so soon!

Huh?
see my teeth?
playing with our cool play table- it even talks in spanish!
taking a nap in our new carseat- did I mention Miles is in a big boy carseat now?

Friday Update
1. Miles has started scooting backwards. It is so cute... all of a sudden I'll look up and he is across the room suck with the leg of his table between his legs and he can't scoot anymore.
2. Miles has mostly stopped the horrible scream. Now he just cries. He cries a very sad, tears coming down cry. Unless he is tired... then he screams.
3. Carl get his first real day off today! It has been a LONG time since he has had a day off with no school... but he still has to go and do a home-visit for about an hour.
4. We are going to redo our livingroom. Now that Miles is going to be moving around and getting into a lot more, I need an entertainment center that he can't get into. One that is tall enough he can't pull the t.v. down on top of himself.
5. I hope to find a nice dresser at the Goodwill today so we can get the living room started.
6. I am having a procedure Thursday to fix even MORE problems that labor caused... don't worry, it's not too bad... an in office procedure that hopefully shouldn't take too long to recover from (is the recovery from labor EVER going to be over? LOL).
7. Because of my surgery, my mom is coming to stay Thursday, Friday, and maybe Saturday depending on how I feel.
8. After cleaning my kitchen and living room, with Carl's help of course, my house seems so clean... and now that it's clean, I feel so much happier. It is strange how much a clean house makes you feel motivated and happy.
9. Miles has started making sounds again... we went for about a month where he would make noise, but not really sounds. Now he is saying things like "bbbbb" , "er", "goo", "erg", and last night we thought he said "hey". It is great that he is trying out sounds again.
10. I wore Miles in my moby wrap yesterday... it had been about 3 months since I had used it, and he loved it... it also made me really see how BIG our son is. I remember going to the grocery store with him in it and he was so tiny, now he is a giant in it!

Friday Update
Miles is officially 6 months old... crazy, right?
This has been the craziest week in quite a while.
1. We had his 6 month appt on Monday.:
He is 21 lbs 13oz
28in tall
47.5 cm for head circumference
2. That means he is in the 97% for height, 97% weight for age, 97% head circumference for age!
I tell Miles that means he has aced all of his first real tests :)
3. Miles has started pulling himself forward while sitting- into the almost crawling stance! And then he rocks back and fourth.... oh no, this must be the beginning of crawling!
4. Miles got 4 shots at his appointment and he only cried for about 5 seconds. As soon as I held him and talked to him he stopped. It was so great... but then we got home and he slept for 2 and a half hours! He hasn't napped that good since he was a little baby.
5.Miles LOVES Jezzie, the love is not mutual however. When we were on our trip to Phoenix, Miles pulled Jezzie's ear and since then she doesn't trust him and doesn't like to be too close to him.
6. Miles ran a fever all night on Monday. I gave him Tylanol and it helped a lot! He was fine all day on Tuesday but started to run a small fever Tuesday night. I gave him Tylanol (but because we had ran out of the concentrated stuff, Carl went and got more and they no longer make the concentrated stuff... this means that instead of one dose being .8 ml it is now 5 ml. which is A LOT for a baby to drink)... Miles didn't like the new Tylanol, so he spit it all out on his jammies and after cleaning him up I took him to bed..... I nursed him and after a few minutes, he threw up..... he threw up ALL over me and him and our bed. It was like 10:45 pm and Miles is throwing up like 3 cups of milk and whatever Tylanol he managed to swallow. It was horrible!
7. He has started pulling himself up onto things.. he can only manage to pull up to kneeling but this translates into him wanting to try to stand on anything. Sooo, when he is in your lap, he will pull hair to try and stand on you. It sucks... and hurts.
8. Miles is STILL doing the raptor scream. I hate it. He does it so loud and every time he is even slightly unhappy... although it mostly centers around when he is tired. This means that from 8-9 every night our house sucks to be in. He is cranky, wants to be held and isn't happy with anything so he screams every minute or so. It is like someone stole my sweet, loving baby and returned with a screaming, hair pulling, biting, demon baby. I am so over this stage.
9. Oh yeah, and Miles started biting me while he nurses. He did it 5 times yesterday. I am not really sure how to stop him, other than what I am doing- I say ow really loud, tell him no, and stop feeding. Does anyone have an idea of how long I will have to do this before he gets the idea and quits? Thank goodness he only has his bottom teeth so it doesn't hurt too bad.
10. We are going to our first playdate today! I am so excited and a bit nervous to meet a bunch of new people but mostly just excited to get out of the house and see a bunch of new moms. Wish us luck (and that the new demon baby Miles doesn't show up until we get home, LOL)
11. And because it has been a crazy week, here is one more thing... we have started playpin training Miles... this means that most of his play time is IN his playpin and he is really liking it... other than when he is tired demon baby.

Playing in his playpin... he turned his piano upside down because he was trying to use the music stand to pull himself up.
Do you see a happy Miles? I do!
This is what I woke up to this morning... sweet, happy Miles

Friday Update
Wow... it is already Friday again. It seems like Fridays just come so fast! Well, last week my baby was 26 weeks old... that means he is officially 6 months! (52 weeks in a year means 26 weeks is half way!) His real 6 month birthday comes this week on Sunday.
1. I have so much blogging to catch up on, including Miles first Christmas and New Years.
2. I keep hoping to catch up on Carl's day off, but his next day of is NEXT Thursday and I have a doctors appointment.
3. Miles is so cute! We have been feeding him baby food and so far he LOVES oatmeal. He opens his mouth really wide and wants more and more... it is really fun to see. Yesterday he ate 5 oz at one sitting!
4. Miles is still grabbing his feet. He does it almost every time he is laying on his back. He can even stick his big toe in his mouth!
5. Carl started internal medicine rotation and it is hard! He is on call every 3 days and only gets on average one day off a week. That means he could go 10 days or so without an actual day off. At least it is the last hard rotation... only 7 more weeks!
6. Miles did great traveling. The drive went well, but his schedule was a bit messed up due to lots of napping in the car. I think we are finally starting to get back into our normal routine.
7. I am doing well, but having a bit of the lonely blues... I miss all the family I've been around for so long. It is just Miles and I for most of the day and although I love all the great time we have, I still miss seeing other adults all day... not to mention that Carl gets home so late that it is tough to not feel alone and lonely.
8. Miles is still doing the crazy scream.... only now it is whenever he is bored, stuck somewhere, tired, or whenever he is generally unhappy. It stinks!
9. He is still doing his super cute old man face! I love it!
10. My family is going to start doing a weight loss thing and I am so excited to do it!
