Noises
Miles loves animals. He wants to know what they are all called and loves to tell you the ones he knows. He doesn't know how to say the words but he can say the sounds! Here is a video of most of the sounds he knows... he also knows the monkey sound and I think a few others, but I forgot to ask him.
smarty pants miles!

Videos of Miles
Here is a collection of videos that I have collected over the last few weeks.... maybe months?
Wow, it has been a LONG time since I posted a video! Well, enjoy!!
Carl playing with my friends's kids... and Miles getting jealous
Miles sweeping at my mom's house in the backyard. He totally loves to sweep.
This is Miles playing in the sprinkler
This is a video of Miles trying to give Cooper his bone. It was so sweet... Miles would chase Cooper around holding his bone trying to get Cooper to take it.
Miles is riding on his cousin Mya's fourwheeler. It was so cute. I only had to show him a few times and he was able to ride it himself!
This is Miles eating with a fork while watching his "baby movie". Needless to say, he was a little distracted but it's still so cute!

Friday Update
1. Things are finally starting to get back to our normal life.
2. Miles is biting everything. His top teeth are in and just growing down and he is biting everything. Today he tried to bite my toe.
3. We have been to the zoo for the last 2 Saturdays and Carl wants to go again tomorrow... this might end up being a weekly thing in the Bryce household.
4. We put locks on the toilets so Miles can't get into the toilets anymore.
5. Miles wore a hat for the first time in awhile and he looked so cute!
6. Miles is now wearing size 4 Wide shoes... they are a little big but I have a feeling they won't be too big for very long.
7. Miles got his iron checked today and he was a bit anemic... I was told he needs to eat more meet and oatmeal.
8. Right now he is crying outside my door because I am in the bedroom trying to type and he LOVES to come over and try to "help" whoever is on a computer.
9. I made 2 different wipes cases for my friend Karoline and they turned out SO cute! I have even thought of updating mine into the frog one and making the pink one for when we have a girl :)
10. Do you remember Miles' old man face? I do... and I miss it.

Friday Update
1. Having Karoline and Ben here has been so great. I'm glad we get another week with them!
2.We made a quick visit to see my family and had a great time. Miles did great in the car both times and it was really nice to see my mom and Rodney for a few days.
3. While we were there, Miles spent some great time with Grandpa and water. I caught a video of Miles and Grandpa watering the front lawn.
4. Miles also played in the backyard in the doggie water dish. He splashed in the dish, spilled it all over, tried to swim in it, tried to drink it, and got SO wet!
5. Miles is still so in love with men. We go to a restaurant and he talks to the boy waiters and wants them to hold him. He crawls after Ben or Carl all day and is the happiest in a boy's arms.
6. Miles says mom, momma, mammmmmmma, ba, baba, bbbbb, mmmm, aaaaaa, mem, and he mouths the m sound. He is getting so much better at letting his wants known by the noises he makes.
7. Miles is so smart. We have started closing the dog door and when it is open, he takes the little door and tries to close it. He can even pinch the part that opens the door. He will pinch it and then let go and try to slide it up. He is so close to being able to open and close the little door.
8. We went to the zoo again last week and had so much fun looking at all the animals. We also decided to buy a pass for the zoo and aquarium along with a pass to bring 2 extra people for free for the whole year. I am really excited for all the fun zoo adventures we will be having this year.
9. Carl has his last day of his 3rd year of med school today... he has to make up 4 weeks of psych because he took the time off for Miles' birth, but he is technically in his forth year starting tomorrow!
10. Our friends are going to watch Miles tonight so Carl and I can go on our second no baby date since Miles was born. We are going to go see the hunger games!

Friday Update
1. Miles took a step on Tuesday. He was standing at the coffee table, let go, stood there for a second, and then stepped toward me! He only made it one step and fell, and hasn't tried it since. I think this totally counts as his first step, but Carl says he isn't so sure... Miles did manage to pick up his foot and move it forward, so does it count?
2. Miles is a little spitter. He has learned how to blow on his tongue to make a spitting sound and he does it all the time. He does this more than making talking noises.
3. Allergies are horrible this year. I am so stuffy and itchy and sneezy (is it just me or did you think those sound like dwarf names too?).
4. Miles really hasn't grown for the last few months. He is still wearing the same clothes and is only about a pound more than he was at new years. I think crawling is helping him to gain muscle and lose fat though... his face seems to look thinner than it did and I feel like he looks more grown up than before.
He weighs 24.2 lbs and is still 28.75 in tall this means he is in the 90 th percentile for weight for age and a little over 75 percentile for length for age.
5. Miles has so many bruises.. I know it's from crawling but I feel bad. He gets them on his head from bonking his head on the coffee table, but he also now has them on his legs from crawling over our baby gate in the kitchen (it has a little lip that he crawls over).
6. Miles is going through his 8 month bad sleep time. It is totally normal for babies. He is just so busy all day learning new things, so when we go to bed it is hard for him to fall asleep. It is also hard for him to stay asleep. When he starts coming out of a sleep cycle, into a lighter sleep, he wakes himself up to play. When he wakes up he rolls over and starts to crawl even before he is all the way awake. It is crazy and makes for a bunch of nursing at night so he can go back to sleep.
7. Carl stayed home on Wednesday because he caught a cold from his clinic. We really tried to keep Miles away from him so we'll see if he ends up sick.
8. Miles and I are going to fly to see my dad and family for Easter. My step mom was nice enough to buy us a plane ticket to visit for a week! It is going to be so fun because my sister Shelbie is also going to be visiting with my sweet niece! I am a bit nervous about going on a plane with Miles by myself, but it for sure beats driving for 10+ hours!
9. Carl, Miles, and I went to the park the other day and we let Miles put his feel in the sand for the first time. He wasn't so sure of it and just kept squishing his toes around in it.

10. Miles loves playing with the doggie door. He crawls over to the back door and likes to push the door open. I am just waiting for the time when he realizes he can push stuff outside and then learns he can fit through the door himself (when that happens, the dog door will get taken out for awhile).

Friday Update
1. I trimmed Miles' hair for the first time this week. He had a few really long hairs and his hair was covering his ears, so I gave him a trim. Now I can make his hair be a mohawk again!
2. Miles has started saying ma. It is his official first word!! He says it when he is upset and wants something. I am almost positive he knows it means me.
3. Miles is getting to be such a mover. He crawls around fast (especially if you have the laptop!) and he is standing up all the time. The other night Carl made the remark that he feels jipped because we didn't get to have a baby for very long, he is already almost a toddler now. He just grew up so fast.
4. I took Miles to the park and let him swing. He didn't like me putting him in a weird thing, but he loved swinging... that is what the video showed. After being there for a few minutes, a man that was playing tennis stopped, looked at us, and said, "best years of life right there... enjoy it". It was sweet.
5. Miles went in his jumpy for the last time... I put him in it and he had fun. He likes jumping. I think he is just getting too big, our living room is too small, and he doesn't like to be in it for too long because he would rather crawl so I had Carl put it away. It actually made me sad to see it go, but I took a few pictures and am very glad we had the jumpy when Miles was little.
6. Carl is starting a rotation that is within walking distance of our home on Monday. I am so excited that he won't be taking 30-45 min each day going to and from work. It means more at home time!
7. Miles loves to play with the blinds. He likes to eat the metal cord (don't worry... he is ALWAYS supervised while he plays with it). It is funny to watch him crawl over to the back door, pat the door, lick the door, and then play with the blinds and cords.
8. Miles is so smart. We have a baby gate blocking the way to the kitchen and it has a door that swings open. When the door is open it has a little lip on it. Miles would crawl over and couldn't figure out how to crawl over the little lip but after showing him once, he now does it on his own.
9. Miles gets SO excited when Carl gets home. He smiles so big, starts crawling toward the garage, and cries until Carl picks him up. It is really cute to see.
10. Miles has started to pull his own hair. He mostly does it while he nurses to sleep. I am a bit worried that he is going to become one of those people who pulls out his own hair, but Carl says he isn't strong enough and it is just a phase. I hope he is right!

Friday Update
1. Miles has started raptor screaming again. It stinks.
2. Carl only has one more week of Internal Medicine and then he will be in Family med where he will only work 3 days a week instead of 6.
4. Miles has gotten really good at crawling. He now crawls into his play room without me.. I'll just look down and he's in the other room standing on his play table.
5. Miles does not like strangers. A nice lady at Walmart was talking to him and telling him how cute he was. She touched his cheek and he poked out his bottom lip and cried so hard I had to take him out of the cart and hold him to calm him down.
6. Miles has found out that he has hair! When he is tired, he likes to grab his hair and feel it. It is so cute!
7. Miles has started to get more daring and sometimes while he is standing, he will let go of the table and stand by himself for a second before he falls. It is crazy how advanced he is!
8. Our first Valentine's day went really well, although we celebrated it a day late. Miles got a cute shirt that says daddy rocks, I got a new pj shirt for when it gets warmer, and Carl got a nice romantic bath alone for an hour with candles and a glass of wine.
9. We have been putting Miles to sleep earlier at night. I lay him down and nurse him around 7:30 and he sleeps alone until we go to be around 9. He tends to wake up a lot during that time though. I think he gets uncomfortable and realizes I am not there and wakes up. I then have to go and nurse him back to sleep. He really only does this once or twice before he goes into deep sleep.
10. I have been trying to watch what I eat to help lose some weight and I am proud to say that I am 20 lbs lighter than I was when I got pregnant... that means that since Having Miles, I have lost a total of 45 lbs. I am fitting in jeans I haven't been able to wear in 2 years. It is nice.. I would still like too lose another 10-15 lbs, but I am just glad to be where I am!

Friday Update
1. Miles has started playing with his tongue again. It is so cute. He especially likes to do this when he is wrapped up after he is done nursing and before he falls asleep.
2. He has also started sucking in air when he gets excited.
both of these are in the following video-
4. Both sides of my family are thinking of going to Idaho for a part of the summer. That means that I think Miles will spend his first birthday in Idaho meeting many members of his family that he hasn't met yet.
5. Miles has started crawling even farther than before. He can now crawl all around the living room and even has crawled to the kitchen. He really only likes to do it when there is some kind of motivation (like the Jezzie or me going to the kitchen) but it is so cute to see him do it!
6. I just finished a book called
2. He has also started sucking in air when he gets excited.

p.s. sorry about the BIG booger in his nose, I didn't notice until after the video :)
3. Miles is a BIG guy.. we had him measured and he is now 23 lbs 10 oz and is 28.75 in tall. He is in the 99th percentile for both.4. 6. I just finished a book called
My So-Called Life as a Proverbs 31 Wife: A One-Year Experiment...and Its Surprising Results
it was really fun to read and gave me a lot to think about.
7. Carl is so close to being finished with internal medicine... only 2 more weeks and then he will be in family medicine (or family vacation is what the other students call it- because it is so easy.. yea!)
8. We have started putting Miles to bed earlier. He isn't taking a late nap and is going to bed an hour earlier... he is still getting the same amount of sleep, but now Carl and I get some much needed alone time.
9. ++++++++++++++---------------------------------------------------------------------------- that was -miles... he loves the laptop and pushing buttons is his favorite thing to do- besides playing with daddy's belt or book.
10. Miles has stared eating his hands again... this makes me wonder if his top teeth are going to come in soon because he only did it before when he was teething his bottom teeth and then stopped once they came through.

Friday Update
1. Miles has started scooting backwards. It is so cute... all of a sudden I'll look up and he is across the room suck with the leg of his table between his legs and he can't scoot anymore.
2. Miles has mostly stopped the horrible scream. Now he just cries. He cries a very sad, tears coming down cry. Unless he is tired... then he screams.
3. Carl get his first real day off today! It has been a LONG time since he has had a day off with no school... but he still has to go and do a home-visit for about an hour.
4. We are going to redo our livingroom. Now that Miles is going to be moving around and getting into a lot more, I need an entertainment center that he can't get into. One that is tall enough he can't pull the t.v. down on top of himself.
5. I hope to find a nice dresser at the Goodwill today so we can get the living room started.
6. I am having a procedure Thursday to fix even MORE problems that labor caused... don't worry, it's not too bad... an in office procedure that hopefully shouldn't take too long to recover from (is the recovery from labor EVER going to be over? LOL).
7. Because of my surgery, my mom is coming to stay Thursday, Friday, and maybe Saturday depending on how I feel.
8. After cleaning my kitchen and living room, with Carl's help of course, my house seems so clean... and now that it's clean, I feel so much happier. It is strange how much a clean house makes you feel motivated and happy.
9. Miles has started making sounds again... we went for about a month where he would make noise, but not really sounds. Now he is saying things like "bbbbb" , "er", "goo", "erg", and last night we thought he said "hey". It is great that he is trying out sounds again.
10. I wore Miles in my moby wrap yesterday... it had been about 3 months since I had used it, and he loved it... it also made me really see how BIG our son is. I remember going to the grocery store with him in it and he was so tiny, now he is a giant in it!

Friday Update
- Miles learned how to roll over from his back to his tummy on Saturday, so now every time he is put down on his back he rolls over.... it is so funny because he hates being on his tummy and he cries each time he is on his tummy BUT when you roll him back on his back, he just rolls over again.
- He has started to move his legs and arms, kind of like he is swimming, when he is on his tummy.... crawling here we come! (this is what the video shows)
- Miles does this funny sound whenever something is placed on his head- he breathes in really fast and acts like he can't breathe... even if it is only covering his eyes.
- Miles LOVES his jumper. He no longer likes sitting in his rocking chair because he can't move his legs and he wants to stand.
- On Wednesday Miles rolled over on to his tummy and then on to his back and then on to his tummy.... I think it was only an accident, but I have a feeling he is going to be totally mobile soon.
- We are in Farmington now, since Carl has a big test in 2 weeks we decided that Miles and I should leave to give him the time to study.... but we talk every night and skype too. He watched Miles roll over and I know that us being apart for a bit is a good thing.
- My friend Lauren is getting married this summer and I am her maid of honor. I am so excited! I have been using pinterest to help me find cool things to suggest for the wedding.
- I think this has been my favorite month so far.. Miles is so sweet and patient and fun! He loves to play and interact with people. He doesn't really talk to new people because he is too busy watching the people and hearing them talk but once it is quiet he starts to talk.
- Miles is interacting with toys more and more. He likes to pull the strings and spin the toys and shake the rattles. It makes playing with him fun.
- Miles like to grab his toes. He lays on his side and pulls on them. He can't reach his mouth with them but still he likes to pull on them.

Friday Update
1. Miles is such a great baby! He is always so happy. He laughs all the time and just enjoys the world.
2. Miles has figured out how to jump in his jumper... that is what is on the video, him jumping!
3. Miles had his first Thanksgiving.... he couldn't eat anything, but he was just happy to have his Grandma and Grandpa visit! I'm excited for next year when he will get to participate in everything.
4. I can't believe we are already half way through his fourth month.... time is just going so fast!
5. Miles LOVES the Christmas tree.... at night when he is getting cranky, Carl will sit with him under it and he just looks, tries to grab the needles (don't worry... it is a fake tree with plastic needles), and laughs. It is the greatest thing to watch.
6. Carl is really getting into being a dad. He takes Miles from like 7-9 each evening (with the exception of when he eats) and just plays with him. It is a nice time for me to get a break and a great time for Miles and Carl to get to know each other.
7. My sister-in-law had my nephew, Davin (on the day before Thanksgiving!) and I can't wait to meet him!
8. Black Friday is today and we already braved the crowd last night at walmart to get some sweet stuff.... and Miles came with us. He was in an umbrella stroller and by the end was a bit overwhelmed with all the people.
9. I didn't realize how enticing it would be to just give Miles a taste of something.... my mom kept asking if she could just give him a little lick of potatoes.... "they're just potatoes... come on, he wants it!" she kept saying to me.... it was funny but in the end he really didn't eat anything. Although this does make me kind of excited for when he can just try foods we are eating.
10. Carl ended up getting a little bit of time off this weekend (yesterday and today... tomorrow he has to do morning rounds and wake up at 3:30am, but he then gets Sunday off). He slept until 9:30 yesterday (and we went to bed at 9pm) and I have a feeling he will sleep more again on Sunday. Poor guy... I know he is so tired, but he is a champ at making med school work for our family.
Happy Black Friday!!!

He slept until 9:30 yesterday (and we went to bed at 9pm) and I have a feeling he will sleep more again on Sunday. Poor guy... I know he is so tired, but he is a champ at making med school work for our family.
Happy Black Friday!!!

6. I am so excited for Miles' first Halloween... he is going to be nemo this year.
7. Miles met his cousin Mya for the first time this week and they did so good! She was so curious about him and he was really patient with her wanting to crawl all over him.

2 month shots part 2 (plus a video)
I thought I would write a quick blog about the rest of our day after Miles got his 2 month shots.
It was so hard. Miles spent the rest of the afternoon either sleeping or wanting to nurse. He would cry and then nurse and then sleep. Once he finished his really long nap (and waking up 3 times and crying during that nap) he was great! It was about 5 and about the time Carl got home and Miles was happy and giggling for Carl. He looked like he was totally fine.
He continued to be in a great mood until he got tired again and then the only thing that could stop his crying was nursing. Poor Carl felt so helpless. Miles did really well that night while sleeping though... he slept and only woke for a 3 am feeding and a 6 am feeding. It was great!
He is doing much better today and isn't fussy any more than normal. It is nice to know that his crying and fussiness only lasts one day!
On another note, I totally forgot to add on yesterday's post (and didn't remember until I was talking to Carl) that the spot on Miles' heart that was found in our ultrasound is nothing. The doc was listening to his heart and said it sounded good... I commented that he had a spot on our ultrasound on his heart and the doctor was surprised and said that everything seemed to have cleared up and his heart sounds great... nice and strong. Thank goodness! Miles also was super flirty and made both nurses (and even the doctor) fall in love with him. He gave them all big smiles and showed them what a handsome baby he is. It was really sweet.
Anyway... here is a video of him this morning (with a cameo appearance from Miss Kim Kardashian)! ENJOY 4 minutes of my morning :)

Friday Update and the 100th post!
I can't believe I am already up to 100 posts! It is crazy to think that I have blogged that many times. My blog has really evolved from food and dates to pregnancy and now the baby. It really has grown, just like I have.
Well, onto the Friday update! Miles is officially 7 weeks old today! It is hard to believe that my little baby is getting so old so quickly!
Well, onto the Friday update! Miles is officially 7 weeks old today! It is hard to believe that my little baby is getting so old so quickly!
1. Miles loves to smile. He is now smiling all the time. He smiles whenever he is happy and sees or hears Carl or I... it is so cute!
2. He has started doing a practice laugh while awake. It isn't a total laugh but it really cute to hear. Maybe I'll catch it on video and blog it so you can hear it too.
3. Carl goes back to school in 3 days! I am not looking forward to him being gone all the time, but it will be nice to have a set schedule again.
4. We went grocery shopping yesterday and bought a bunch of stuff for lunches,2 baby washes, and 2 lotions... we had a half full cart and only spent $48. All thanks to sales ads and coupons!
5. Miles now weighs almost 13 lbs and is 25 in long! He is getting so big!
6. Miles is starting to like his binky... especially when he is sleeping. It calms him down and helps him relax.
on the way home from Farmington
7. I "wore" Miles in a sling during nap time yesterday... he seemed to like it and only woke to eat. It was a nice solution to him wanting to be held and me needing to do some chores.
Miles in the moby wrap
8. I have started back up with my meal planning again. It is nice to know what is for dinner every night without having to figure it out at 5 pm when I am too hungry to fix anything.
9.Miles now has to wear his hair in a mohawk because he has a long patch down the center of his head, with no hair on the sides.... he looks like he is subject to male pattern baldness... lol.
happy boy!
life is so hard!
10. Miles LOVES to kick when he is awake and happy.... here is a video of him doing his "exercises" and "talking".... enjoy!

Friday Update
It's already time for another Friday update... and again I can't believe how old Miles is getting... he is already
4 weeks old!!!
He got a little upset when we were trying on the hat the night before we took pictures.. but he is still so cute!
Just fresh and clean out of the bath with mom!
This last week has gone by so fast!
1. We spent the weekend in Farmington and left on Monday.
2. It was SO nice to have Miles meet family that hadn't met him yet.
3. Miles is starting to get the hang of how to use a binky... it has been tricky, but he is getting better and better at it all the time!
4. We did a photoshoot and I am totally in love with the pictures of him in his owl hat. SO cute!
5. Miles sleeps great in his swing... so great that I am finally able to get stuff done while he sleeps.
6. I feel SOOOOO much better!!! I am finally able to get stuff done. It is nice to feel well enough to move around and get ready and clean up. It is nice to be able to move around and not hurt all the time.
7. Carl is half way finished with his paternity leave... only 3 more weeks left with him home (what am I going to do when he leaves????).
8. The days seem to go by so fast. Yesterday we went to Walmart and it took us 3 hours to do all the shopping and stuff... we were there so long I had to nurse Miles before we left because he woke up hungry.
9. Miles was weighed yesterday and he weighs 10 pounds and 5 ounces!! My baby is getting SO big! He is 4 weeks old and has gained 2 pounds and an ounce since he was born. I knew he was eating a TON! He was also measured at 22 inches long... that's 2.5 inches longer than at birth!
10. Here is a video of him hanging out at my mom's house... he was just kicking and kicking! He is so strong (sorry it is upside down... my phone didn't turn the video like I thought it would)
