Has it really been two months since I updated the blog? Wow... well, here are the top ten:
1. We went and visited Phoenix to see my sister before she has her baby (she is due in a bit over two weeks). Mya and Miles got along so well. It was really fun to see him interact with Mya again. She is a hoot and such a fun and beautiful girl. I sure wish we lived closer to them.
2. Family visited us! Lin, Ike, and Brock came and stayed with us for Labor day weekend. It was great seeing them and showing them our new house. I just wish they could have stayed longer.
3. I bought Miles a little potty and he decided to potty train after nap time. He sat on the little toilet and went potty. He had gone potty more than 15 times in one day and only had a few accidents but he decieded that he was done after one day and that potty training wasn't happening. He doesn't want to go on it anymore and I figure I'll wait until he is ready so it isn't a horrible experience.
4. Carl has started in patient rotations. This means that he can't take any leave until next year with the exception of January.
5. We are trying to figure out what we can do in January since it will be his only time off this year. Any suggestions?
6. Miles and I met our newest girl member of the family a few weeks ago. Her name is Rylie and she was 6 weeks old. Miles did so well with her. He was gentle and loved kissing her head. He now likes other babies!
7.My sister had her baby this week... a little boy and now I am trying to find a good time to go visit. I can't wait to meet little Easton!
8. I got Miles a doll house and he loves making all the little people do what he says. They go potty, sleep, play video games, and whatever else his mind comes up with. It is so cute to watch him play.
9. Miles is sleeping in his own bed by himself. We have a family room, so he sleeps in the room with us, but his bed is separate from ours and is made to be a toddler bed. He crawls in and out and when he wakes up in the morning, he snuggles in my bed for a few minutes with me. It is so nice!
10. My mom is planning on visiting at the end of the month and I can't wait! I haven't seen her since May and I think this is the longest we have gone without a visit since Miles was born. It will be so fun to have her see our house and be able to just hang out with her.

Friday Update on Sunday
1. Miles is starting to run... not just walk, but really fast walk, almost run. It is scary. I was going into the bedroom and 3 seconds later he had quickly walked all the way across the living room to me. I caught him actually at a run. Crazy!
2. We visited my mom and Miles had so much fun seeing his cousin Kobe. They are the same height, but Miles is 5 pounds heavier!
3. Kobe went right up and hugged Miles and Miles cried! He wasn't so sure about his cousin going right up and squeezing him... but after awhile they had fun playing together.
4. Miles has now learned how to crawl up stairs. He doesn't know how to go down yet, but he is great at going up.
5. Miles started making the sign for nursing (we do the milk sign). He hasn't really done it enough to totally understand that moving his hand like that will let me know he wants to nurse, but he is trying the movement out. It makes me super excited to see him sign!
6. We met a little girl who was 18 months and was so small that I thought she was 7 months, but she was so cute making tons of signs at her mom. She would sign more and cheese and thank you and please. It was so cute to see... she even blew Miles kisses.
7. We went swimming with my friend Lauren and her two daughters. It was so fun. Miles loved walking around the big pool and watching the girls play. It was so interesting to see him watching older kids and how he interacted with them.
8. While my friend was over, her 18 month old left her binky. Miles found it and used it as a teething toy. He has become quite attached to it, although he only uses it to chew.
9. My friend Lindsey visited with her family and we went to the zoo.. it was so fun.
10. Carl and I are now house managers for the homes we are renting. Because of this, we are going to rent the house 2 doors down to my friend Lindsey... it was so cool because we showed her the house while she was vising and she loved it. That means that I get to be neighbors with one of my best friends!

Friday Update
1. Karoline and Ben went home today. I am sad. I hate having an empty home and what makes it even worse is Carl is on call tonight so he won't be home until Miles and I are sleeping.
2. Miles has started baby babbling. He is saying so many new sounds.... not just the m, a, and b sound. He is super chatty and "talks" his own language all the time.
3. Miles has officially said dada. It is really cute that now he says mem and da.
4. Miles found out that he can lift the toilet lid. This was swiftly followed by learning that he can splash in the toilet water. We have now put locks on each toilet.
5. Miles opens and closes his mouth in a popping sound when he wants to eat whatever you have. It is really funny and looks like he is a little fish. He really likes to try EVERYTHING you are eating, so now I have to be careful what I eat to help him in finding good for him foods.
6. Carl has started Psych and will have finished his 3rd year of med school in another 3 weeks.
7. I was reading this book called the Wonder Weeks and Miles is officially in a stage of cranky-ness before a big developmental leap. This leap is one of learning sequences. That means that he is learning that when he lifts the toilet lid, he can splash in water. This also means that he is going to be cranky for the next 2-3 weeks.
8. Karoline let me borrow a book called The Magicians Guild... and it was SO good. It is part of a trilogy and I have now bought book 2 and 3.
9. Miles also learned how to crawl up on the dishwasher and stand... yes, stand up on the dishwasher. This was followed by swiftly falling on his knees and head while daddy was trying to grab him. He is now sporting a nice bruise on his forehead. Poor little guy.
10. Carl has started playing with Miles by going around our rocking chair with Miles chasing him. It is so funny because Miles laughs SO hard. It is so cute!

Friday Update
1. Miles and I spent all week with my friend Lindsey and her family. It was so much fun!
2. Miles LOVES men. He likes the way they play and would cry whenever my friend's husband would leave the room.
3. Miles has gotten so much better at crawling. He is going faster and faster, but still not so quick I can't catch up.
4. Miles is still stroking his hair. He mostly does it when he is tired, but it is really cute to see.
5. Carl says that Miles has a different cry face now and when I asked him what he meant, he said that Miles must have control over a facial muscle that he didn't before because he cries differently.
6. In the morning, Miles stretches his whole body out and I swear, I can see him actually getting bigger and bigger.
7. Carl is finally finished with internal medicine. We are so ready for him to start an easier rotation and this means that he has the whole weekend off!
8. It was so cool to see Miles playing with my friend's kids. They are 8 and 2 and it was really fun to see how he interacted with bigger kids.
9. Miles is a jealous baby. I was playing with my friend's little 2 year old boy and Miles started crying and crawled over to me. I was kind of wrestling with the little 2 year old, and Miles comes over and starts pulling on me wanting my attention. I didn't realize how jealous he really was until that moment.
10. We cleaned up our living room and got rid of a few more things, so our house is looking great!
Here are some pics from our trip to visit friends!
These were taken by a 8 year old:

This was taken today... I think this might be the last time in his jumpy :(
a video of Miles playing with my friend's husband and kids. I don't think you can really see, but Miles thought this was SO funny. The kids just started yelling and trying to get Miles to laugh.. so funny.

Our nighttime visitor
Carl and I had a little visitor last night. We were laying in bed reading (well, I was reading and Carl was playing with his iPAD) when we heard a weird noise by our bed. I asked Carl to move the bag (I thought the noise was a plastic bag moving because we had the fan turned on). He got down to move the bag and....... there was no bag. He moved some stuff and he said, "MACEY, COME HERE!!! LOOK!!!!" Well, that usually means it is a spider or cockroach or something I really don't like, but here is what we found:
