2.Miles likes to stand up with help.
3. He loves to eat my hand... or his hand... or whatever gets close to his mouth.
4. Miles grabs his binky and pulls it out. A lot of the time his mouth still wants his binky but his hand pulls it away and he gets mad.
5. We are having a blast in Saint George... it is great for all of our family to see Miles.
6. It has been hard not being able to share this last week with Carl... it seems like Miles has just learned so much this week.
7. Miles laughs so hard when you tickle his neck.... it is so cute. I wish I could bottle up his laugh to listen to all the time. It is pure happiness.
8. Miles likes to blow bubbles... he says the bbbbbb sound and makes crazy bubbles.
9. I wonder if Miles is gettting sick again... he woke up with a stuffy nose and a cough this morning.
10. I am so excited for my sister-in-law's baby shower tomorrow!!

All the pics were taken by Carl's sister Linley... THANKS LIN!!!

Friday update

Wow! My baby is already 14 weeks old. Am I even allowed to keep saying his age in weeks or do I move over to saying he is 3 months?
1. Watching extreme home makeover now has more meaning.... I cry even harder when it talks about someone losing a child.
2. Miles is ticklish! He laughs when you tickle him.
3. He is so close to holding up his head! I bet by the end of this month he will be able to do it.
4. I made double chocolate chip cookies this  week and they were SO good.
5. Miles is starting to stand up when you hold him.
6.  I miss carl. It is nice having someone who is as responsible for Miles as I am.
7. The long drive wasn't too bad... It should have taken 6.5 hours and instead took 10.
8. Miles is liking sitting up... He tries to do it on his own but isn't stable enough.
9. Miles can now stand... With help of course.
10. I'm not  looking forward to the drive back

3 months old

Miles,
I can't believe you are already 3 months old. It is so crazy to think that my little baby is getting so big so fast. Right now you are sleeping in my arms... I have gotten really good at multitaking and typing while you sleep is tough but not impossible. You are so sweet. In the mornings, you smile and toot and coo. It is one of the best parts of my day. I love waking up to you. You wake up around the same time every morning, even if you went to bed late. When I feel you stretching and wiggling, I look at the clock and it is usually between 7:20 and 7:45. I open my eyes and look at you and you get the biggest smile on your sweet face. I love it!
Your dad is doing sugery rotation and is gone a bunch, but we've really gotten a good schedule down. I now know what you want and can tell what kind of mood you will be in based on what time it is. Since your dad is gone most of the day, you have to catch him up each evening. When Carl gets home, you talk so much!  You will talk to me, but usually you just enjoy smiling at me... not with Carl. You LOVE to smile and coo and tell him all about everything he has missed. He is one of the few people you really like to talk to.
You are a people person! You love to see other people and smile at them (but you still need mom when things get too overwhelming). People see you and comment on how handsome you are and how happy you are. I love it.... I love that you are such a happy boy. I think God just blessed you to have a happy soul. Sometimes when you are really tired and ready for sleep, I will talk to you and you will smile, eventhough you were just crying... you smile and then cry. It is so cute! It is like you love me and you are so happy that I am talking to you, but then you remember that you are tired and are supposed to be crying. It makes me laugh.
You have started laughing! The other day, you were almost upset but when I would bounce you, you luaghed so hard! It was the first time you have made a REAL belly laugh. It was so sweet that I cried. I can't wait to hear you laugh all the time.
Nap time can still be a struggle... you would rather be held the whole time, and I would rather you sleep on your own. So, we have come to the conclusion that you can sit on the couch next to me while I fold laundry and drift off to sleep. Then after you have had some alone sleep, I hold you. I am really enjoying this stage of your babyhood.
You are a pro at eating your hand. When you are awake, you'll pull out your binky and stick your fist in your mouth to chew on. You don't suck your thumb, you eat it (and your first finger too). It is really cute, but you tend to make a bunch of slobber. Now, don't think that the slobber is teething.... you aren't quite there yet, I think you just enjoy the feeling of your fingers. Sometimes when you are eating your thumb, your finger pokes your eye... I think it startles you but you never get too upset about it. You just look at your hand like, what the heck are you doing there??? I didn't want you in my eye. You also are now feeling things with your hand. You like to hold my hand or arm or whatever and feel it. You rub your hand across whatever is touching you- you even do this in your sleep! Feeling stuff has become a great way for you to learn!
Well, this has been a very big month for you. You have learned new things, grew a bunch (I think you are finally twice your birth weight!), you and I have a great relationship, you are SO happy, and I find myself loving you more and more each day. I am so thankful I get to be your mommy and I hope that the next month is full of even more fun and excitement!

xoxoxo,

  Mommy

Friday Update

My little Miles is already 13 weeks old! I can't believe it... I look back at the other posts and realize how much he has changed in the last 13 weeks. I am really glad I have kept up with these updates so I can look back and remember.

1. Looking back, the first week he was home was magical. It went by so fast. I remember having Carl going back to school was hard, but each morning we woke up, I nursed Miles, and we just spent an hour or so looking at his sweet face. I think that is one of my most cherished and favorite memories so far.
2. This next month is going to be CRAZY! We are in Farmington now. Going to St. George for my sister-in-law's baby shower, and coming back to Farmington for Halloween. Then Carl leaves so Miles and I will be staying with my mom until the first weekend in November. That means a whole month away from home!
3. I am really hoping that Miles does well on our 6 hour drive.... please pray that he does ok and just sleeps!
4. Miles is such a sweet boy. He LOVES to have people looking at him and talking to him. Even if he is cranky, he will still give you a smile before returning to crying.
5. Miles is sleeping SO well at night. We all go to bed around 9 and he only wakes up at 3 to nurse. Then we both wake up between 7 and 8. It is so wonderful! That is what the doctors call sleeping all night for a nursing baby.
6.We are working on him napping alone. It is a rough process. Right now he is sleeping on the couch after putting himself to sleep. I am hoping that he will start napping without me needing to rock him to sleep.
7. I finally am able to wear my wedding ring again! It got to where I was too swollen to wear it and after giving birth, my fingers were still too big... well, I have now lost enough weight that it fits again! It is so nice to look down and see my beautiful ring again (plus it is a great reminder of Carl all day long!)
8.Miles has great hand control! It is getting better every day. He is able to hold your hand and move the blankets off of him when he doesn't want them. He also pulls his binky out when he doesn't want it but wants to play with it. It is so cool to see my son learning and getting better and better at something! (Now for him to just learn how to hold his head up all the way!)
9. Miles has a temper! He likes to screem when he is angry... or when he wants your attention and babbling didn't do it.... or when he feels like it. He has learned he has a voice and HE IS GOING TO USE IT!!LOL
10. I finally feel like Miles and I have a system that is working for us. Things are a bunch smoother for us and it is nice to know him and his schedule well enough to be able to go out and do things.

Friday update

1. Miles is 12 weeks old now.
2.  Miles can now hold his rattle and he enjoys shaking it (until he drops it).
3. We are loving cloth diapers! They look so cute on miles and fit him great.
4. When miles nurses, sometimes he will suddenly stop, unlatch, and babble something to me. Then he relatches and eats for awhile. It's like he has to tell me that thing before he forgets.
5. I can't believe it is already October.
6. We already have miles' halloween costume... He will be either nemo or squirt. I have both costumes, so we'll see what fits best.
7. I'm weird, but 2 years ago disney was  redesigning their  halloween costumes so everything was REALLY on sale. Sooooooo, I bought a few different baby costumes (like 5 or so) and only spent about $30. It was great!
8. We are going to farmington this coming weekend.
9. I will be traveling almost the whole month of october... Just miles and me.
10. Pray for me that miles will be a great traveler and that he won't just cry for the whole car ride.

New CLOTH Diapers

If you don't want to hear about my views on cloth diapering, don't read this blog... just skip it and read another post. I really am warning you, I am going to tell you exactly why I decided to go for cloth, so if you are totally against it, just go ahead and stop reading... no one has to know.

For my birthday, my mom decided to go halfsies with me and split the cost of cloth diapers.

The diapers are called fuzzibunz and are really cute! They are a pocket diaper and are really easy to use, did I say cute??, and will grow with Miles until he is 30 lbs! We will be able to use them for Miles and 2 more kids after him.....after that we might have to buy new ones (or they might STILL be good to use, if we take good care of them). I absolutely LOVE these diapers! We still have some disposable diapers from the medical school diaper shower that was thrown for us, but I think those will mostly be used for when we are traveling.

If anyone is thinking about cloth diapers and wondering why in the world I would want to do them, just read this and this. Using cloth diapers is good for the environment AND will save you TONS of money! It is so great and easy... it is NOT like how cloth diapers used to be... no pins or touching any poop. I really love the diapers so far and am so excited about how they look on Miles. (Also, as a side note... ladies think about wearing a pad, is it comfy? NO, so why would you want your baby to be in something like that 24/7 for 2+ years? It is just one more reason I like cloth diapers, they are so soft!)

Anyway... sorry for the rant, but I just really love them. Here is my little model wearing a yellow one (We bought them in blue, green, cream, red, and white.. SO cute!)

here he was laughing at Carl

He noticed I had my phone and decided to give me a very serious look, but the diaper is still cute!!
