Moving day

It is moving time. We have packers here packing everything up while Miles and I hang out and Carl does last minute things. Miles and I are going to leave today to go to my mom's house so we are not underfoot while the movers come and load everything tomorrow.

I will honestly miss this house. It has been good to us. I brought my baby home here. I had my first teaching job here. We did medical school here. This was our first house and it is full of tons of memories. We have loved living here and having Miles grow up here. It has been the perfect house.

Our two packers names are Tom. No kidding... Tom A. and Tom B. and yes, there last names do start with A and B. They have been packing for about 30 years and have done a fantastic job! What took me a month to pack when we moved here, is only taking them 2 days! Here are some pics of what they have accomplished.

Tom A. packing up the kitchen. He finished this in about 4 hours.

The beautiful sun pouring in this morning (I was up way too early- hello 5 am, it hasn't' been long enough since I saw you)

Our living room and kitchen all packed from yesterday

Having our house all packed up without having to do anything more than buy lunch has been great! Miles has been super well behaved and after nap we are on the road... I will miss you little home. Thanks for the great times and the warmth and shelter you provided us for the last 4 years. You will always be the home I had my first baby in and the home that Miles grew strong in. Thank you for that.

Disneyland

We were lucky enough to have Carl's mom offer to help us go to Disneyland! We arrived on a Saturday and left on a Tuesday. Carl's mom bought us a room at the Grand Californian Hotel. It was AMAZING! The room was beautiful and it was so nice to have a room so close to the park.

We went into the park Saturday night and Miles rode his first ride-Ariel's Undersea Adventure. He loved it! The park was so slow that we rode it twice and walked right on. Miles just looked around and pointed at all the fish. It was great!

We ate a character breakfast Sunday morning with all the critters at Chip and Dales critter breakfast. I wondered how Miles would act with the characters and man, he was terrified. He cried and hid under the table. It was so cute... sad but cute. We then spent the morning doing rides and came back for a quick nap at the hotel, followed by rides all night. It was so great!

The next day we got up early and did the early park entrance. Miles loved all the bugs land rides! We even got to meet Minnie Mouse! Because Carl's mom is a member of Disney Chase rewards, we got to have a personal meeting with a character and we lucked out because it was Minnie! Miles loves Minnie! It was the cutest thing. We walked in and he said, "Ma-ma" for Minnie Mouse. He then blew her a kiss, gave her five, and hugged her. He had a little baby crush on her. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip. So sweet.

That afternoon we rode It's a small world and Miles loved it. I think he really liked that we were in a boat and that he could see all the animals and movie characters. It was really neat to see him so excitedly pointing at stuff. We also did world of color Monday night and it was great! Miles did so well, just played with my phone the whole time and sat in his stroller.

Miles was so good for the whole trip that we decided to buy him an M&M pretzel. He ate it and made a giant mess! He loved it! It was a nice treat for him and a fun way for us to do something out of the ordinary for him. As luck has it, on our way out of the park, while he was covered in chocolate and M&M color, we saw 2 princesses that we had to take pictures with. At least he was easily cleaned up with a few baby wipes.

All in all, Disneyland was so much fun. Miles didn't throw a single tantrum. He loved seeing all the rides and Ma-ma. We all had so much fun and I must say that my weeks of planning left us with a happy baby who never lacked for stuff to do and a happy family who just got to enjoy some family time.

he was so scared of the characters at breakfast!

Mother's Day

After having Miles, I now see how important today is. This is my second Mother's Day. I think Mother's Day needs to be celebrated more than birthdays. I didn't work for my birthday, my mom did. I think that I worked harder for Miles and deserve more recognition for that than for my own birthday. I like celebrating the fact that I was born, but I think that moms and dads deserve a BIG day for celebrating all they do for their kids each and every day. Mother's and Father's Day should be a big day with lots of appreciation.

Saying all of that... today was wonderful. I went to bed last night with Miles and he woke us up this morning  at 6:30. I wish the wake up call could have been a bit later, but he woke me up by laying on my chest and snuggling me so I forgave him :). It was a super sweet way to wake up.

I woke up Carl and made us some coffee. We got ready and went  out for brunch with my mom and Rodney. It was so yummy! I had french toast and eggs and shared my breakfast with Miles. We then went on a family walk around riverwalk. It was such perfect weather! Beautiful weather and lots of ducks. Miles loved it, until about 11. Then he was so ready for nap! We came home and Miles took a nap for 3 hours! It was wonderful! Carl and I even got to sleep a bit too.

We went over to Carl's mom's house for a bit and played. Then we came back to my mom's and my parents watched Miles while Carl and I had a date night! We went and got some super yummy salads and two truffles. We went to the park, ate, talked, and laid in the grass. We looked at clouds. We snuggled. We had a great, relaxing time.

All in all, it was a perfect Mother's Day. A day full of fun family time and love. My kind of celebration. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. Celebrate the hard work you did to make your children.. the hard work you did to bring them into this world, and the hard work you do each day to help them grow. Celebrate the fact that you work hard every day and you 100% deserve a day that recognizes that.

Day thirty: remembered for

30. List 10 things you would hope to be remembered for.

1. My big heart and love for others.
2. My happy, loving children.
3. For being forgiving of others.
4. For laughing a lot.
5. For helping others.
6. For being a great listener.
7. For giving more than receiving.
8. For always showing up.
9. For being a good person.
And the most important one:
10. Remembered as a great friend, wife, mother, and family member.

I guess I want to be remembered for who I am, not really for any certain thing I have accomplished.

Day twenty-nine: my hope for my kids

29. What are your hopes and dreams for your prosperity?

I hope that my children will be happy. I hope that God will bless them with many more good day than bad and with spouses that love them and support them. I hope my kids will always know I love them and never doubt the depth of that love.

I hope that my children will do good in the world and know God. I hope they will have a strong faith in Jesus and know that they are worthy of greatness. I hope they reach for there dreams and are not too scared to change dreams if that dream wasn't what they thought. I hope that they will grow into strong, independent, loving, caring people who love to visit their mom and dad. That they love family and make good families of their own. Most of all, I hope for a brighter, bigger future full of laughs and happiness. With lots of love and family.

Day twenty-eight: my spouse

28. What’s your favorite quality in your spouse?

There are a lot of things that I love about Carl. He is smart and funny, sweet, loving, giving, a great dad, talented, and so much more. I guess if I had to pick my favorite thing about him it would be how supportive he is. Carl supports me in whatever I do. From how I parent to how I am feeling. He supports me and listens to me and tries to help if I need it. He really is such a great man. He is my other half and I am thankful every day that we chose each other.

Day twenty-seven: my body

27. What is your favorite part of your body and why?

My favorite body part is my eyes. I really have nice eyes. They are happy eyes that glow. They have a nice shape and are a pretty shade of blue and when I smile they squinch up and are cute. My smile is nice too, but I love my eyes.
